THE BOX is recruiting!



Want to be part of the largest and most exciting cultural project in the UK to open in 2020?..... And part of the unique lifestyle of living in Devon and Cornwall? The Box, Plymouth is a £40m. + museum, contemporary art gallery and secure home for six archives and collections, which is being built adjacent to the University of Plymouth and Plymouth College of Art. Plymouth is at the heart of the national Mayflower 400 commemorations and The Box will be its flagship legacy project. With funding secured from the City Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England, The Box aspires to deliver an ongoing programme of international significance. It needs also to be a commercial success and to be a much loved destination which attracts frequent repeat visits.

Engagement Programmes Manager (Starting Salary: £37,107)

To lead a team of people delivering the engagement and learning programmes both within The Box and out of The Box.

Commercial Manager (Starting Salary: £37,107)

To be responsible for The Box and the Historic Houses (Smeaton’s Tower, Elizabethan House and Merchant’s House) achieving a profitable income stream, whilst staying true to public service values.

Marketing and Development Manager (Starting Salary: £37,107)

Development of strategy and plans for the promotion and marketing of The Box and Historic Properties, and the development and management of a fundraising strategy.

Archivist (Starting Salary: £25,463)

To improve access to the collections and deliver the MA in Archival Practice in partnership with the University of Plymouth

Retail Officer (Starting Salary: £25,463)

Managing the shop and implementing the product and buying strategy that positions retail as an integral part of The Box

Fundraiser (Starting Salary: £25,463)

To fund-raise for The Box and Historic Properties (capital and revenue) from the public and private sectors, individual donations, philanthropy, trusts and foundations.
