Hundreds Visit the Three Towns in Focus Event at Plymouth Guildhall
Between 15 and 17 May 2014 hundreds of people visited the 'Three Towns in Focus' exhibition at Plymouth Guildhall.
'Three Towns in Focus', which was organised by Plymouth City Council (PCC) Learning Officer, Tony Davey, and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, was designed to celebrate the centenary of the amalgamation of Plymouth, Devonport and Stonehouse. By exhibiting an array of historic moving and still images held by SWFTA, PCC and the South West Image Bank (SWiB), the public was given a glimpse of what life was like for the inhabitants of all three locations over the course of the last one hundred years.
Plymouth University's Innovation for the Creative and Cultural Industries (ICCI) team was also present at the three-day event with their amazing 360 degree cinema. Dr David Hilton and his colleagues produced an incredible sequence of moving images, stitching together contemporary material with historic footage from the SWFTA film vault, placing the public at the heart of the action.
The SWFTA team was proud to be a part of this fantastic event, which formed part of this year's much-celebrated Plymouth History Festival, and were delighted to talk to the large numbers of people who, as you can see from the image below, took a real interest in our collections.
Long may this continue!
