New Interim Management Support in Place for SWFTA



Meet SWFTA's new management team, appointed to support the archive during our Archive Director's maternity leave from May 2014 to February 2015.

Ian Cooper, Interim Archive Manager:

Appointed in Jan 2014 as one of two Unlocking Film Heritage Project Collection Assessment Officers Ian is now working as SWFTA's Interim Archive Manager, providing the primary managerial cover during our Archive Director's maternity leave. A Doctor of Philosophy in History, Ian has a wealth of experience in the local heritage sector. Between 2009 and 2012, he received Arts and Humanities Research Council funding to catalogue the Seymour of Berry Pomeroy manuscripts at Devon Record Office, and, throughout 2013, he managed a project, financed by the Heritage Lottery Fund, on behalf of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom to celebrate 125 years since the opening of the Association’s Laboratory on Plymouth Hoe. At SWFTA, Ian is responsible for projects, partnerships, stakeholder engagement, marketing and comms, finance and staff support and management.

Natalie Banbury, Interim Assistant Archive Manager:

Appointed in May 2013, as the BFI Volunteer Project Training Officer, Natalie is now working as SWFTA's Interim Assistant Archive Manager, forming part of management cover in place during our Archive Director's maternity leave. Natalie has experience of archival cataloguing and digitisation within a film archive. Natalie is responsible for technical and operational oversight and for supervising and mentoring volunteers and providing support for volunteer activity. Previously involved with Theatre Production and stage management, she has a background in Interior Architecture and Design and has experience in managing large groups of people through exhibitions and productions.


Ian and Natalie are supported in their work by SWFTA's full board of Trustees, trustee working group, and Hilary Bracegirdle from Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery who will provide seconded strategic and professional oversight during the Executive Archive Director's leave.
